Interview Summary
This is an interview with Loyal Jones about the early Appalachian Studies movement. He discusses the schism in the Council of Southern Mountains in the late 1960's, the role of Berea College in early scholarly and social change efforts, and numerous individuals that helped to define Appalachian Studies in the 1960's and 1970's. In particular, he focuses on political tensions between traditional and radical elements of the movement.Interview Accession
