Interview Summary
Morehead discusses wanting to write poetry since she was a very young child. She was encouraged to write by her teachers in school, and earned her MA in creative writing, and her PhD in Rhetoric and Composition. She is a teacher, and does not write much during the school year. Morehead discusses the reasons for writing poetry, the process of writing, and the nature of creativity. Sena Jeter Naslund is Morehead's mentor, and Morehead praises Naslund throughout the interview. Morehead reads three of her poems from her book, "In a Yellow Room." Her future work will explore her relationship with God. She plans to read the writings of Thomas Merton, and will write poetry based on his writings and life.Interview Accession
