Interview Summary

Deinema was the Job Corps National Director of Conservation Centers in the Job Corps Planning group headed by Sargent Shriver responsible for conceptualizing Job Corps program. He represented the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) at the signing ceremony of the Equal Opportunity Act in the White House Rose Garden on August 20, 1964 and oversaw the establishment of both the US Forest Service (USFS) and the US Department of Interior (USDI) centers. After the signing, Jack became the Director of the newly created Division of Job Corps Administration of the USFS. His career included various assignments from smokejumper to his retirement as USFS deputy Chief of Administration.
