Interview Summary

In this interview, Zane VanArsdale talks about his family in Richmond, Kentucky and his realization that he was gay at a young age. He talks about his first sexual experiences both with neighborhood children and adult men. He talks about being out in school and his reactions to being bullied. He talks about becoming involved in the Lexington club scene and his involvement with drugs which lead to his incarceration. He talks about contracting HIV and not taking care of his health by taking his medication properly. He discusses the stereotypes about gay people and their involvement with drugs as well as the idea that gay people often participate in self-destructive behavior.
