Interview Summary

Cindy Heine discusses her work with the Prichard Committee for Academic excellence from 1983 through 2014. She was a volunteer member until 1989 when Robert Sexton hired her as his associate director. She discusses attending the legislative task force on education reform meetings that led to the passage of KERA; her work on the committee's 800 line to answer the public's questions on education reform; her focus on early childhood education, and in particular the Strong Start campaign; and her experience in working with the media.
