Interview Summary
William Reid was born on a ship traveling to the United States from Scotland. In this interview he discusses his Scottish heritage, and how he has continued to honor it since moving to Lexington, Kentucky. He talks about his career in Lexington at IBM. He discusses beginning the Lexington Pipe Band in 1975, and details the events and competitions his band participates in. He talks about the history of bagpipes. He talks about other Scottish societies and activities in Kentucky, including the Scottish Games. He discusses the relationship between religion and ethnicity.Interview Accession
