Interview Summary

In this interview with singer and advertising jingle writer Anne Phillips, Phillips and interview Susan Schmidt Horning discuss her childhood and background in music. Phillips then talks about recording demos in recording studios in the 1950s. The two then discuss the advent of multi-track recording and the popularity of disco music in the 1970s.

Phillips then talks about her time at Aldon Music Publishing and her first recording experiences in the 1950s. She also talks about her singing career and her move into writing advertising jingles. She then talks about her career in the advertising business and the changes that occurred to the business in the 1970s. Phillips moves on to talk about the technology available in sound studios in the 1950s. The interview ends with a discussion in the changes that recording made in musical performance, and finally, the future of the recording industry.
