Interview Summary

In this interview former mayor of Burkesville, Kentucky, General Paul T. Smith, describes his youth and education in rural Burkesville. He describes growing up during the Depression and explains how he joined the United States Army shortly before the country's entry into World War II. Smith explains how, thanks to his work ethic and acumen, he rose through the ranks of the Army to become a general. He talks about his world travels, the various jobs he did within the Army, and covers a period that spans from the Great Depression all the way through the seventies. He served in important leadership capacities in the fields of combat, computer technology, and print materials publication within the US Army.
