Interview Summary
Shane Young is Hardin County, Kentucky's Commonwealth Attorney. He discusses his childhood, military career, and law career as a private attorney and then state prosecutor in Hardin County, Kentucky. He talks about House Bill 463, which reduced drug possession punishment, and the unintended consequences it had on getting people into treatment. Young also discusses the drug trends seen in Hardin County, such as the scarcity of pill mills, which meant that the region's prescription opioid addiction problems never got out of hand. However, methamphetamine has been on the rise.Interview Accession
