Interview Summary

McNulty was the “voice of Thomas Merton” in several Atkinson documentaries about Merton, as well as the lead character in Atkinson's “Pain in the Innards” documentary. McNulty talks about the challenges of the actors life.

William “Bill” McNulty is an actor and director who has performed internationally. He grew up in New Jersey where he earned a scholarship to Rollins College. He pursued his graduate degree from Penn State University, while studying under some outstanding teachers in the MFA acting program.
McNulty's career includes performances on stages around the world, as well as roles in the major motion film “Brubaker” and the television series “Tales from the Darkside.” He is a long-standing member, actor and director at the Actors Theatre of Louisville acting company and has worked with the Humana Festival since 1977. He has played over 150 roles, as well as directed and produced.
