Interview Summary

Wayne Schedler talks about how he began his career in the craft of leatherworking. He mentions Bradley Picklesimer decorating one of their stores. Schedler talks about being the owner of a club that held one of the first punk rock concerts in Lexington, Kentucky, Halle Lou. He talks about some of the bands and other acts that performed on the stage there. He talks about the concept of the free stage, which didn't charge patrons to get in to see the show because Schedler felt that music should be free. Schedler discusses the transition from hippie culture of the 1960s and 1970s to the punk culture of the 1980s. Schedler talks about the atmosphere at his clubs, Halle Lou and ReBop, and says that they had the least trouble out of all the bars in Lexington. He describes some of the punk shows at the clubs. He talks about his clubs as places for self-expression. Schedler talks about his attitude toward change.
