Interview Summary

In this interview with Clyde Reynolds Carpenter, he discusses his career at the University of Kentucky, including earning tenure, becoming Associate Dean of the Architecture Department from 1974-2003, and then becoming chairman of the Department of Historic Preservation from 2003-2010. Carpenter also discusses World War II, his time at Pennsylvania University, his travels in Europe, and describes mid-20th century architecture. He talks about the Vietnam War, the civil rights movement, and the deaths of Martin Luther King, Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy.
