Interview Summary
Amelia Catanasiga worked for Peace Corps Fiji from September 1973 through March 1998, as a member of the host country administrative staff. Amelia was born and raised on Koro Island in Fiji. She heard about the job at Peace Corps from a friend, went to the office, was interviewed by Jay Olmstead and Dan Cantor, and was hired that same day. During her career she worked for 10 Country Directors. Interview includes discussion of closing the Peace Corps Fiji program in 1998, only to open again in five years. Amelia expresses her feelings for the volunteers, challenges faced by volunteers, and the value of Peace Corps to Fiji.Interview Accession
