Interview with Irl D. Leet, October 14, 2008
Project: Oldham County Historical Society: Oldham County Veterans Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Irl D. Leet served in the U.S. military during World War II. During his time in the war, he and his crew bought tea and traded it with people in China, India, and Tibet for horses, which they would then sell. His crew did not have much oversight, so they mostly worked on their own with little contact from the outside world. After the war, Leet worked various jobs such as at a used car dealership, a picture framing company, and at American Standard, and he also married and had one son.Interview Accession

SCRC collects materials from different cultures and time periods to preserve and make available the historical record. These materials document the time period when they were created and the view of their creator. As a result, some may demonstrate racist and offensive views that do not reflect the values of UK Libraries.
If you find description with problematic language that you think SCRC should review, please contact us at SCRC@uky.edu.
