Interview Summary
This is an interview with Betty Ellison, former Secretary of the Kentucky Mansions Preservation Foundation (KMPF). Mrs. Ellison talks about Mrs. Louie B. Nunn's involvement in the preservation of the Mary Todd Lincoln house in downtown Lexington. She discusses Gov. Julian M. Carroll's contribution as well as Gov. Nunn's. She also discusses the state of the Todd House when KMPF began it's preservation campaign.KMPF is a private non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting historic properties founded in 1968. KMPF restored and continues to operate the Mary Todd Lincoln House, the girlhood home of Mrs. Lincoln and the first historic site restored to honor a first lady. The museum in downtown Lexington has been open to the public since 1977.
