Interview Summary
Donald Stull, former president of SfAA, interviews another former president of SfAA, John A. Young. In the interview, Stull and Young discuss Young's shift of interest from philosophy to anthropology while in college. Young details the development of his anthropological thought while attending Stanford University and his early encounters with applied anthropology. Young describes his interest and involvement with Fiji, including his brief stint as a basketball coach for Fiji's national team. Young provides commentary on his early involvement in the SfAA and his goals as president of SfAA. Young goes into great detail about his interest in stimulating conversation between Chinese applied anthropologists and those at the SfAA. Young provides his experience in editing textbooks and his criticisms of the textbook publishing industry.Interview Accession
