Interview Summary

Hopkinsville native Wendell Lynch shares about his experiences growing up in Hopkinsville in the 1950s and 1960s. Lynch discusses the importance of community, of church, and of our responsibilities to our community. He attended segregated schools until high school when he integrated into Hopkinsville High School where he played basketball. After college, he returned to Hopkinsville, had a successful career in banking, served on City Council after his retirement, and is currently serving as mayor (the first elected black mayor in the city's history).
