Interview Summary
C. Nelson Grote (Executive Vice President, Kentucky Community and Technical College System, 1998) is a retired community and technical college administrator and President Emeritus of Morehead State University. In this interview, Grote discusses his career in higher education, including a stint at the Kentucky Department of Education where he worked with the technical/vocational schools in the state. He speaks about Governor Patton asking him to testify on behalf of the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Improvement Act and appointing him to the transition team. Grote shares his impressions of early Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) staff members and speaks about advising the first KCTCS board. He also discusses traveling to all of the community colleges for meetings with faculty, staff and college presidents to inform and explain the advantages of the merger.Interview Accession
