Interview Summary
Kathy Szinnyey has been blind since birth due to retinopathy of prematurity (formerly known as retrolental fibroplasia (RF)), being a part of the large cohort of people born in the 1950s with RF. She has a degree in social work and a long, diverse history of work including a lot of work relating to disability. In this interview, she describes her life as a blind person in Kentucky throughout the disability rights movement, including discussion of pre-ADA disability organizing at the University of Kentucky, accessibility of books and knowledge, and more.Interview Accession
