Interview Summary

At the time of this 2019 interview Sarah Lindgren served as the public art administrator for Louisville Metro Government, where she coordinated the Public Art Initiative within Develop Louisville, a department of Louisville Forward. As public art administrator, Lindgren worked with the Commission on Public Art, which was established in 2010 to develop public policy concerning public art and advocate for public art in Louisville Metro and Jefferson County. The initiative staff and commission manage the city’s public art collection and programs. In addition, she advised civic agencies and neighborhood groups on projects related to artworks in public space. Previously, Lindgren spent more than ten years working within art museum settings, in a variety of arts administration roles. She worked in collection management at the Saint Louis Art Museum as well as the curatorial and development departments at the Speed Art Museum. She received a bachelor’s degree in art history from Hanover College, and a master’s degree in art history from Washington University in St. Louis.
