Interview Summary
Hank "Henry" Nardi served as a Volunteer in India from 1965-1967. Originally from Williamsport, PA, he served in the town of Raipur in Madhya Pradesh. Training, held at St. John’s University consisted of studying books like the Bible, The Bhagavad Gita, and the Communist Manifesto, Hindi language and cultural studies, and poultry studies. His group’s plane was diverted to Israel when the 1965 Pakistan-India war broke out. His group worked on a kibbutz there until they were able to go to India. In India, Hank worked with veterinarians at his site and helped build poultry cooperatives. Upon his return to the US he obtained his law degree from George Washington University and has worked at the UN Relief Program, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the UN Development Program, and became the UN Deputy Representative in India.Interview Accession
