Interview Summary
Mary Mason describes growing up and living in Over-the-Rhine with her family in the mid-twentieth century. She describes sleeping outside on the Central Parkway grass in the heat of the summer, swimming in public pools on Linn Street, and the delight of getting cold summer treats at Lonnie’s, a seasonal shop. Mary also describes the unfairness of being excluded from the Boys Club as a girl. She shares her love of Over-the-Rhine, a neighborhood she continues to return to, and her memories of Findlay Market, shopping at Ben’s Department Store, and her love of Tucker’s Restaurant.Interview Accession
