Interview Summary

Nannie Rainey discusses her participation in the Brookside Mine Strike. She talks about her actions during the strike, including picket lines, rallies, making signs, and more. She describes her schedule on the picket line and how all of her housework got done during the strike. She describes her family's attitudes about her participation in the strike, and talks about what she regrets about the strike. She talks about being arrested and taking her children with her to jail. Rainey discusses the formation, meetings, and activities of the Brookside Women's Club. She talks about her devastation when she and the other miners' families were kicked out of Brookside camp. Rainey discusses how her attitude changed after her participation in the strike.
