Interview Summary

Born in 1926, Mr. Scott is a third generation horseman and the owner of Shandon Farm in Lexington. His father, Harrie B. Scott, Sr., was the farm manager for Faraway Farm from 1930 until his death in 1961. Scott took over management of the family's Shandon Farm in the 1950s and managed the Jefford's Faraway Farm after his father passed away. Mr. Scott shares stories of Faraway Farm, Man o' War, Walter Jeffords, Sr., Col. Chinn, Sam Riddle, Dr. Bill McGee, War Admiral, and the steeplechase champion Lonesome Glory. He discusses changes in veterinary practice, horse sales, and his philosophy of raising horses.
