Interview Summary
Mark Scarr was born in 1950 in Minnesota. He grew up in West Concord, Minnesota until his senior year of high school, when his family moved to Fiarfax, Virginia. Scarr attended William and Mary College and graduated in 1972 with a degree in History. He joined the Teacher Corps and taught in Louisville, Kentucky. He moved back to Virginia for a year before moving to Lexington in the 70s. He retired from a 30 year teaching career at The Lexington School in 2015. Since then, he's been involved with Gan Shalom, a pre-school at Ohavay Zion Synagogue and the Lexington League of Women Voters. Scarr spearheaded a WeVote voter registration initiative in Lexington high schools right before the pandemic hit in March 2020.Interview Accession
