Interview Summary

This brief interview is a continuation of an earlier and longer interview (FF191). Dr. Jackson was raised on a farm in western Kentucky. After he served in the military, including in Vietnam, he attended graduate school, receiving a Ph.D. in animal science. He later became a faculty member at the University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture. In addition to his academic work, he owns a small farm in Western Kentucky on which he raises beef cattle with the assistance of a farm manager and, at least initially, his father. Some indication is given of the differences between the agriculture of western Kentucky and central Kentucky. Jackson also shares a brief anecdote about Dean Charles E. Barnhart of the UK College of Agriculture.
