Interview Summary
In this interview, Mr. Fred Elliston discusses growing up in Louisville, Kentucky and attending public schools there. He talks about attending the University of Louisville for three years and majoring in economics before being drafted into the Army and sent to the South Pacific. Elliston explains that he considers himself a city boy. He talks about his father leaving Elliston, Kentucky to work for the L & N Railroad. Elliston discusses moving to Lexington after the service and buying a downtown bar (Turf Bar) which he ran for seventeen years and then sold, buying a laundromat in Paris, Kentucky and running it for seventeen years also. He also discusses raising his three daughters in Lexington, Kentucky, fist in Meadowthorpe, then in the Glendover neighborhood, and finally settling in Landsdowne.Interview Accession
