Interview Summary
Wade Mainer of the Mainer Mountaineers and the Sons of the Mountaineers discusses his long music career. He talks about he and his brother, J. E. Mainer, learning to play music, their early shows for community events, and beginning to play professionally. He discusses the history of the Mainer Mountaineers. He talks about later leaving the Mainer Mountaineers and forming his own band, the Sons of the Mountaineers, and later playing music with his wife Julia. Throughout the interview, Mainer talks about playing styles, songwriting and copyright issues, his influence on other musicians, and playing for people like President Franklin D.
