Interview Summary

At the time of this interview, George C. Wright is a distinguished African-American scholar, professor of History at Texas A&M University, and former President of Prairie View A&M University. In this interview, he discusses what he is most proud of in his life including relationships and achievements. Wright talks about being the first African American to hold many of the titles and have many of the achievements he has had over the years. He talks about his education and career path. He also discusses the importance of Lexington, Kentucky and the University of Kentucky in his life, as well as the changes he has seen in both. He also discusses the experience of being a minority student and educator. Wright discusses his childhood in Lexington, Kentucky, including his housing and sports. He also talks about his father's alcoholism and its impact on his family.
