Interview with Ron Short, February 12, 2016
Project: Exploring the Legacies of Appalshop Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Short discusses his career at Roadside Theater Company, focusing heavily on their quest to educate people on Appalachian culture as well as integrate other cultures and groups into their work through cross-cultural collaborations. He talks about how four of his plays came to fruition: "Pretty Polly," "South of the Mountain," "Leaving Egypt," and "Betsy!" He also explains that Roadside was more of a way of doing things and a way of thinking rather than just a group of people putting on theater productions, and this method is what will become Roadside's legacy.Interview Accession
