Interview Summary

This interview with Prestonsburg Healthcare Center resident Garnet Richardson begins with a discussion of when and where he was born. He talks about his childhood, describing his childhood home and what he did for recreation. Richardson then talks about growing food in a garden and the bed on which he slept. Next, Richardson talks about his school years and his marriage to his wife, which produced four children. He talks about the games and sports he enjoying growing up, such as horseshoes. Richardson then talks about his job working in the coal mines and discusses how his family celebrated holidays. He also talks about his mother making quilts out of old clothes. Finally, Richardson talks briefly about the environment during his youth, and talks about hunting deer and rabbits.
