Interview Summary
Ronald Riberich, a former TVA employee, begins the interview by detailing how he was hired at TVA. Riberich then talks of his first job at TVA and the responsibilities the position entailed. The interviewee gives an overview of the history of TVA's Navigation Branch. Riberich also talks of his involvement in Navigation Branch studies. Riberich outlines the most common commodities shipped on the Tennessee River. Riberich discusses TVA’s role in helping Nissan decide to locate a plant in Tennessee. The interviewee discusses his economic and community development work at TVA and work conducting transportation rates analyses. The issue of waterway traffic incidents and Riberich's participation in resolving these problems is explored. Riberich talks of his tenure as President of the National Water Safety Congress. Riberich explains what his career at TVA was like after his involvement with the National Water Safety Congress. Riberich shares his views on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and waterway planning. The interviewee outlines his work with TVA’s hydropower facilities, and talks of his fondest memories of being a TVA employee.
