Interview Summary

This interview with investigative science teacher Regina Sizemore begins with a discussion of when and where she was born. She describes the rural Alabama home in which she grew up, and talks about how her parents made a living. She also talks about how she met her husband and moved to Letcher County (Ky.). Next, Sizemore discusses her reaction to moving to Kentucky and seeing the environmental conditions. She then talks about the establishment of environmental programs and gives suggestions for a cleaner and safer environment. Sizemore also talks about recycling materials and the "throw away" mentality of modern society that is resulting in environmental degradation. Finally, Sizemore talks about her involvement with Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE). She discusses the importance of PRIDE's grants and other funding which make it possible to educate her students about the environment. Finally, Sizemore also talks about how Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) has helped instill a sense of pride in Eastern Kentucky.
