Interview Summary
Interview with Emily Bauer - Richmond, VAEmily moved to Richmond with her husband from Brooklyn, NY. She remembers that day as her first experience of morning sickness in a U-Haul. Originally from Tucson AZ, Emily shares her perspective on home and feeling connected and disconnected from the place that she comes from.
Emily shares stories from what she describes as a difficult growing up. She describes herself as careful, mature, sad and funny as a child. She tells the story of meeting her husband through Match.com, their first date and deciding to have a baby together.
Emily talks about feeling disappointed for not loving being pregnant though she felt the best about her body than she ever had. She talks about feeling afraind during her pregnancy. She was excited to work with midwives in the hospital and describes her birth as automatically ove- medicalized because of age (over 35).
Emily says the last thing that she wanted was to have a C-section. She shares her perspective about coming to terms with having had one.
