Interview Summary
Mohsin Shamsi, a Muslim currently living in Lucknow, India, begins the interview by discussing his early life in India. The interviewee's conversion to Islam as a child is emphasized. The lives and collective achievements of Muslims in India are then explored. Shamsi's religious and secular educations during his youth are also detailed. Next, Shamsi provides a firsthand account of the partition and the resulting riots in India, focusing on his home village as well as the city of Agra. Additionally, the effects of the partition upon India, religion in that nation and its roots, coupled with the circumstances Muslims face while residing in India today are considered. Finally, the interviewee explores the role of saints and graveyards in Islam, followed by a brief mentioning of how he met his wife.Interview Accession
