Interview Summary
This interview with former University of Kentucky tennis player Doug Tough begins with Tough discussing his interest in playing tennis in the United States and how he heard about the University of Kentucky. Tough also discusses his first visit to the University of Kentucky and talks about his first impressions, as well as what convinced him to attend. He then talks about the University of Kentucky men?s tennis team's coaches during his time, Richard Vemont and Grady Johnson. He discusses his tennis seasons at UK beginning from his freshman year in 1969. He describes his teammates and discusses the difficulties of being a student athlete. Tough briefly discusses political activism during his time at the University of Kentucky, which primarily focused on protesting the Vietnam War. Finally, Tough reflects on his memories of attending the University of Kentucky and playing on the tennis team and his career in business.Interview Accession
