Interview Summary
This interview with mayor of Columbia (Ky.) Patrick Bell begins with a discussion of when and where he was born. He talks about his childhood in Columbia (Ky.), including a discussion of his home growing up and what his friends did for recreation. Bell also talks about how his family disposed of trash and obtained water. Next, Bell talks about his involvement with Eastern Kentucky Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) which included cleaning up litter, ensuring that streams were clean, and expanding the city's sewer system. Bell then talks about the effects that coal mining has on the environment in Eastern Kentucky. Finally, he discusses the problem of straight pipes in McCreary County (Ky.).Interview Accession
