Interview Summary
Eugene Woodling, from Ohio, was a Major League Baseball player. He was mainly an outfielder, but also was a Minor League batting champion. After his playing career, he was a first-base coach. In this interview, he talks about his being signed to the Minor Leagues, his military service during World War II, playing for the Cleveland Indians, his being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, playing for the Minor Leagues in San Francisco, injuries he and others sustained while playing baseball, playing for the New York Yankees, other Yankees players, types of pitches, great pitchers from several different teams, and changes in baseball since he was a player.Interview Accession
