Interview Summary
In this interview, Field M. Reed, who served with Company D 192nd Tank Battalion (later transferring to Headquarters Company), discusses serving in the Philippines. He talks about a bombing at Clark Field, resupplying units, food shortages, and beri beri. Reed also discusses delaying actions and preparations for surrender. In addition, he describes forming up as prisoners at Marveles, including fears of being killed by Japanese captors, the brutality of Japanese soldiers, and the Death March to San Fernando. Also provided are work details at Marveles, experiences at Bilibid Prison and Cabanatuan, the rescue by American Rangers, and homecoming.Interview Accession
