Interview with William "Richard" Robinson, July 25, 1983

Project: Goin' North: Tales of the Great Migration Oral History Project

Interview Summary

Robinson was born in 1880 in rural Georgia. He 'took a notion' to move to Philadelphia in 1928 along with some friends, basically to see what things were like. His first job was as a stevedore on the waterfront, but that being too heavy, he took up bartending. He eventually had his own shop in North Philadelphia for many years.
