Interview Summary

In this interview Robert W. Whalin talks about his tennis career at the University of Kentucky. Whalin is a Richmond, Kentucky native who was a four-year letterman and tennis player during the 1950s at the University of Kentucky. Whalin discusses tennis equipment and techniques during the 1950s as well as the University of Kentucky?s limited tennis facilities at the time. He details the losses and successes that he and his team shared. He also talks about the two coaches he played under, first Dr. Downing and second Glenn Dora. After discussing his education and work after he graduated from the University of Kentucky with a major in physics, Whalin compares the University of Kentucky of the 1950s to the University of Kentucky during the present day.
