Interview Summary
Judith Worell is a renowned feminist psychologist. She was born in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York, New York. Although born and raised Jewish, and her father was religious, her mother was not and Worrell protested having to sit in a balcony separate from the men during service. She was a serious pianist as a child, but during her time at Queens College, she gave it up. She met her first husband, Len Worrell, who was not Jewish. They both got their doctorates in psychology at the Ohio State University. They moved several places before Worell settled down in Lexington, Kentucky, teaching at the University of Kentucky.Interview Accession
