Interview Summary

Kate Gray, a first-year interior design student at the University of Kentucky, interviewed Brad Fister, an alum of the same program, for the UK School of Interiors 50th anniversary. Brad told his journey through interior design, from starting as a pre-law major at the University of Mississippi to then graduating at the University of Kentucky with a masters in interior design and a historic preservation graduate certificate. He is now working for the city of Louisville, KY, as a historic preservation design specialist. The School of Interiors taught him many things that he puts to use every day in his job, and the faculty had immense impacts on him in both his learning and his entrance into his career.

You may come across language in UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center collections and online resources that you find harmful or offensive. SCRC collects materials from different cultures and time periods to preserve and make available the historical record. These materials document the time period when they were created and the view of their creator. As a result, some may demonstrate racist and offensive views that do not reflect the values of UK Libraries.

If you find description with problematic language that you think SCRC should review, please contact us at SCRC@uky.edu.
