Interview Summary

Ismail Ali was raised near the lower Jubba River in Somalia where his family farmed and sold produce and where he attended primary and secondary school. He completed teacher training college but war beginning in 1991 led him to Kenya and Mozambique and eventually South Africa where he lived for ten years. He came to Louisville as a refugee with his wife and daughter in 2016.
