Interview Summary

Jane Tolleson, a former receptionist in Senator Cooper's Washington D.C. office during the early 1950s, begins the interview by detailing her educational and professional background. Tolleson discusses the specifics and responsibilities of her position as a receptionist. Tolleson discusses Cooper's manner with constituents. Tolleson talks of various staff members that she worked with in Senator Cooper's office. Tolleson articulates her work on Cooper's 1954 Senatorial campaign. The interviewee also remembers Cooper attending her wedding in 1954. Cooper's final years are explored. Tolleson details her impressions of Lorraine Cooper. Tolleson highlights her level of contact with Cooper over the years. To conclude the interview, Tolleson evaluates Cooper's legacy and reputation.
