Interview Summary
Zhihui Zhang, archives and preservation doctoral student from Renmin University in Beijing, China, reflects on her first few months as a visiting scholar in the University of Kentucky Libraries Special Collections Research Center from March 1, 2018, to February 28, 2019. She discusses her educational background, her China Scholarship Council scholarship, and lists the librarians and archivists she has met with in order to gain an overall understanding of the library and archives context at the University of Kentucky. She explains what she hopes to experience or accomplish during her year, which includes experience with oral history and experience with manuscript collections, how they are organized, preserved, and accessed by researchers. She describes what she has enjoyed about her visit so far (openness and warmth of colleagues), what has challenged her (English), and what she has learned.Interview Accession
