Interview Summary

Ora Mae Warrens was born in Oral Springs, Kentucky in December of 1898. Her parents were Methodists and strong believers in the value of education. Her father was also very involved in local politics. He was a Republican and political issues were often discussed in the household while she was growing up. She describes what she remembers about political campaigning when she was a child. Warren attended college at Morehead and taught grades one through eight in a country school.

Warren did vote because she felt that it was her obligation. She states, though, that she was not too interested in voting at first because she felt that it was not a woman's place. Warren describes the changes for women that she has seen take place in the past century. Warren also recalls her experiences during the Depression and describes her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
