Interview Summary
Lucy Weiger was a Volunteer in Ghana from 1974 to 1976. Lucy graduated from Connecticut College, went to Ghana her junior year with the Experiment in International Living, thrived with the experience, applied to Peace Corps. In Ghana, she taught A-Level Biology and Agriculture Science. Training was 3 months in country. She was assigned to St. Monica’s Secondary School, an Anglican girls’ school in Mampong, Ashanti, north of Kumasi the area for Kente and Adinkra cloth. An English-speaking country, she learned enough Twi, the local language, to shop and exchange greetings. One memorable experience was meeting the new ambassador, Shirley Temple Black in the Embassy on their shared birthday. Lucy loved her experience and has been back twice on medical mission trips. She values her Peace Corps friends. Subsequently, Lucy earned a Master's from Yale University in Health Care and Hospital Administration and spent her career in that field.Interview Accession
