Interview Summary
In this interview, Byron Romanowitz discusses Ernst Johnson, a former University of Kentucky employee and architect of numerous buildings on the UK campus as well as the city of Lexington and state of Kentucky in the mid-20th century. Topics include the qualities of his work that make his buildings significant, his working and personal relationship with Byron Romanowitz, who was his partner in the firm of Johnson Romanowitz for many years, and discussion of Johnson's non-UK projects and the politics of getting building contracts during that era in Kentucky.Interview Accession
