Interview Summary

Edwin J. "Jack" Paxton discusses volunteering to go to Vietnam as an NBC war correspondent. He talks about his initial impressions of Vietnam, particularly Saigon (now called Ho Chi Minh City). He discusses his personal reservations about the war and his goals as a war correspondent. He talks about his experiences in the field, and the morale of the American troops. He discusses his frustration against the war protesters, his reaction to the claim that the media lost the war, and the lessons he believes can be learned from the war.
